Grenoble has been called the “gateway to the Alps”, given its location nestled between the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. The surrounding area is known the world over as it boasts over 200 skiing resorts.

In the city, there are plenty of things to see and do. For a magnificent view of the city itself and the Chartreuse Massif, you can take the famous “egg lift” up to La Bastille, a beautiful fort that remains one of Grenoble’s top attractions. Apart from the many cafes and restaurants that can be found in this cosmopolitan city, the mythical Palais Ideal, the impressive Horloge Solaire and the historic Musee Stendhal are spots worth visiting. An opportunity to discover France’s magnificent sites travelling by train
