Lake Como day trip

Explore the beautiful Lake Como, whose shoreline is scattered with pretty villages; including the exquisite Bellagio and the main town of Como. A day trip to Lake Como is ideal for a spot of relaxation and celeb-spotting, prizes for anyone that can spot the lovely George Clooney.

Hit the shops

Milan is the home of fashion so it makes sense that after all that sightseeing you reward yourself with a spot of retail therapy. The main 'fashion' square is Quadrilatero d'Oro (rectangle of gold) and here you'll be able to browse through collections by D&G, Armani, Paul Smith, Louis Vuitton, Prada...

When you've shopped 'til you've dropped try and find the chic Caffè Baglioni, it has a private entrance at via della Spiga 6.

Catch an opera

La Scala Theatre is one of the most renowned opera houses in the world, first opened in 1778. The world's best opera singers have appeared here over the years, including Luciano Pavarotti.

You can also book yourself onto one of the tours that will guide you through the theatre and museum explaining the history of opera as you go.

Tip: A trip to the theatre is extremely popular, it's best to book well in advance.

San Siro

If you are in any way a football fan, a tour of the San Siro is an absolute must. Milan is home to 2 football teams; Inter and AC Milan and if you can catch a game while you're there then you're in luck. The tour includes the locker room where you can sit and pretend you're Paolo Maldini or Marco van Basten.

After the tour head to the Museo Inter e Milan, where you can watch non-stop screenings of matches, memorabilia and a plethora of trophies.

Before you leave check out the fun papier-mache dummies of famous Milan footballers - see if you can see your favourite (not sure Becks will be there!).
